ASRB meeting held at KUST

KUST, March 29:The 4th meeting of Advance studies and Research Board (ASRB) was held in KUST conference room under the Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor (VC), Professor Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman, to discuss various matters regarding MPhil, MS, PhD research affairs of the university today.
Director Academics Muhammad Tariq Jan after the recitation of the Holy Quran briefed about the purpose of the meeting. 17 different research scholars from different departments including VC attended the meeting.
The chair welcomed and told the participants that Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) is making all out efforts for the safe recovery of Professor Dr. Lutfullah Kaka Khail, the VC of KUST.
He further told about his meetings with Government officials including the Governor of NWFP for a number of times.
At the end he prayed for the safe and sound recovery of VC and also stressed the need to arrange such meetings of ASRB after a regular interval of time for solving research related issues in the University.

JMC department arranged get togather party

KUST, 29 March: A get together party was arranged in the department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) by senior students in the honor of new comers to develop mutual understanding among them
Mr. Amanat Khan Chairman of JMC was the chief guest on the occasion. The students demanded for tour from chairman in the party, he appreciated and encouraged them in this regard.
At the end the participants were entertained with tea party.

VC Dr. Shafiq Visit Different Department

Vice Chancellor of KUST Dr. Shafiq visit different Departments in KUST.

VC KUST Dr. Shafiq along with Dean of Physical Science Dr. Fida Younus Kattak visit the different department of the university. He meet with the Faculty Members as well as students. He talks to students about their studies and Faculty Members.

Students also highlighted their problems to VC. VC promise the students that he took necessary action about their problems.

14th All Pakistan QEC meeting

KUST, 28 March: 14th meeting of all pakistan Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) participants held in Higher Education commession (HEC) regional center Peshawar here on 12,13th March.
The meeting started with the inaguration session by managing director quality assurance HEC.
The purpose of the meeting was the implementation of plans, QEC website review and problems being faced by the QEC.
The participants presented their progresses through power point slides.
The MD QAA while addressing the meeting told that head of QEC should convince VC for filling the vacant posts, communicate the lack of coperation from PT members to VC, communicate with the students, invite other universities for workshops and seminars and will regular follow up report to MD QAA.
The exective director HEC encourged the participants of all the universities in a meeting after the inagural session. He adviced them that the progress of universities is on your own shoulders, you are to prepare score card of your activities done for your performance.
Deputy director QEC Asiyah Bukhari represented Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) in the meeting. The heads encourged her for the performance of QEC KUST.

KUST Remained Open on Weekend

KUST, 27 March: Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) remained open on its usual off day due to the 23 March off, today.
All the departments were opened except the Administration Block. The faculty members of each discipline were present and they observed their classes as in normal routine, they preceded their classes missed on Tuesday due to the 23 March off of the Government.
Due to the normal routine off on every Saturday of KUST, numbers of students were absent in each and every department.
University Official told that the weekend has been utilized because of the disturbance in classes due to the 23 March off and in future the university will observe the normal routine rules for the weekend.

KCL started at KUST

KUST, 26 March: Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) Cricket league (KCL), a knock-out cricket tournament, started at KUST main campus cricket ground on Thursday 25 March.
At least 20-25 teams are participating in the tournament. Salman, student of BCS (7th semester), the chief organizer of the tournament told that it is a knock-out tournament so the losing team automatically kicks out of the tournament according to the rules of the tournament.
Almost five matches have been played so far.
The students and teachers appreciated this activity and commented on it, Mr. Rashid Ali lecturer in Sociology department viewed that KCL has remained the most interesting and entertaining activity of the students so far.Mr. Khalid student of Chemistry and Hameed of Pharmacy told that they are enjoying KCL a lot and also wished to have such activities apart from the study in the future too

"Seminar held in zoology department"

DR. FARHAN IQBAL "assistant prof" zoology division Bahauddin Zahariya University Multan who has recently completed his PH.D degree from medical university viana, Austria.
The title of the lecture was "Creatine Monohydrate as a neuroprotective agent for Arginine, Glycine Amidinotrans ferase (AGAT) DEFICIENT MOUSE, following hypoxic Ishaenic encephalopathy".
The lecture held in conference Hall on Thursday 25/03/2010 at 2/3pm.
faculty of biological sciences,medical sciences and relevant sciences were the organizers.Zoology students attend the lecture.

KASA new strategies for VC recovery

KUST, 26 march: A meeting of Kohat Universtiy Of Science and Technology Academic Staff Association (KASA) held in KASA hall of main campus of Kohat Universtiy Of Science and Technology (KUST) here on thursday 25 march.
The meeting was carried out under the presidency of KASA president Mr. Neem Butt.
The joint secretry of KASA Mr. Tahir told that the main focus of the meeting was on the safe and sound release of the abducted VC Professor Dr. Lutfullah Kaka Khail, he further added that the president of KASA Mr. Neem told that KASA will not remain silent any more in the issue of VC recovery and it will strive at its own for his safe release.
After the discussion of the said issue all the members of KASA agreed that they will try their best for the VC release with new and effective strategies.

PUTA gives deadline for the recovery of abducted VC

KUST, 25 March: A meeting of Federation of All Universities Academic Association held in University of Peshawar under the presidency of president of Peshawar University Teacher Association (PUTA) Dr. Johar Ali on Wednesday, 24 March.
Presidents of staff of Engineering University, Agriculture University, Islamia College and Kohat University of Science and Technology Academic Staff Association (KASA) attended the meeting and discussed the issue of kidnapped VC, KUST, Professor Dr. Lutfullah Kaka Khail
A collective decision was taken of giving deadline till 27 March to the Government for his safe recovery. In case of Government failure Dr. Johar Ali told to daily Mashriq Peshawar that they will call a press conference.
In the meeting the under process sensitive situations going in Peshawar and Agriculture Universities were also discussed.

KUST library closed for 3 days.

25, March. Library of KUST (Kohat University of Science And Technology) closed for three days due to organizing of book exhibition in University.
Book exhibition started in university from 24th march. Due to which library is closed for three days because student should avail great opportunity from visiting that exciting Book exhibition.

Scholarship for the fresh post graduate students

Kohat social welfare organization announced scholarship for the fresh post graduate students.
Kohat social welfare organization gives opportunity to the fresh post graduate student of kohat to gain scholarship of one thousand per month. The required documents should submit before the 28th march in their assigned local office.

KASA conduct meeting

KASA (Kohat Academic Staff Association) held a meeting in central library under the presidency of Mr M. Naeem Butt on 16th march.
KASA organize get together for their members. The main objective of that meeting was to facilitate and support all teaching staff of KUST. And discover some solution for the recovery of the VC Dr. Lutfullah Kaka Khel. The meeting held in very pleasant environment.

KUST students stage demonstration against the killing of UET student Adnan

KUST: 24 march, the student federations of Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) demonstrated against the death of UET final year student Adnan in the main campus of university today.

The demonstration was carried out in order to show sympathy with Adnan, student of University of Peshawar, murdered a week back.

The demonstration started from IMS block, go through the hill block back again to the ground area of the university holding different play card and chanted slogans against the administration of University of Peshawar

Presidents of all the federations of the university presented speeches and declared that students living in every part of the country as one community and they are having strong feelings for all the students even if they are from KUST or any other University and further more they demand quick arrest of the culprits

Book-Fare in KUST main library

KUST: 24 march, the central library of Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) organized a two days Book-Fare in the main campus of KUST today.

The Book-Fare contains thousands of books of almost all the disiplines.

The organizer and librarian Mr Murad Ali told that each seller have round about five thousand books in the Book-Fare. This Book-Fare will be very fruitful in the studies of the students, he added.

The students also appreciated the Book-Fare and demanded of having such Book-Fares in the future. some of the students also told that the books here are so costly, but in answer to this question Mr Murad told that it is not costly but its all because of its international print.

KUST main campus staff won the match

KUST: 24 march, a friendly cricket match between teachers of main and city campuses of Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) won by main campus by six wickets on Wednesday 17 march.

City campus team won the toss and made a score of 83 runs in 12 overs with all out; Rashid Ali of Sociology department bowled well and got five wickets.

The main campus team achieved the target on the 4th ball of the 11th over, with 4 wickets fallen. Mr. Rashid Ali showed all round performance, made 43 runs and led his team to victory.

Both the captain told that it’s an extra curricular activity which brings the staff members close to each other and they will arrange such activities in the future too.

BookFair Held in KUST

In KUST BookFair start today. Different book sellers from the different areas of Pakistan have their own stalls. Mostly books are based on Physics, Pharmacy and General Knowledge etc. This bookfair will be for Two days (24 to 25March). It is first time that bookfair is arrange in KUST Kohat.

KE Radio Take A Proper Start

A Radio KUST Kohat FM 98.2 MHz of Kohat University of Science & Technology(KUST) started a proper programes. They also started News Bulletins and Entertainment programes for the KUST students and for a Local Community.

Rally Against the Murder Of Adnan

In Kohat University of Science & Technology all Student Federation and other Societies held a rally against the murder of Adnan who is the student of Peshawar University and killed in fight between the students 5 days before. The students demand that the University and Govt. give the justice to the Adnan family and take strick decision against the responsible person.

QAU students protest GRE test condition

ISLAMABAD, March 16: A number of Quaid-i-Azam University’s students on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the introduction of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) by the Higher Education Commission for awarding MPhil and PhD degrees.
The students marched from the National Press Club to the Parliament House and staged a sit-in there. However, they dispersed after two hours as MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry assured them that he would arrange a meeting of the students’ representatives with the education minister on Wednesday.
The students enchanted slogans against the HEC for introducing a “black law” in the form of GRE. They were also carrying banners and placards demanding withdrawal of the GRE condition, which according to them, was at odds with the country’s education system.
The protesters also criticized the HEC for “failing” to introduce a uniform GRE policy for implementation in Pakistani universities. According to the HEC criteria, any candidate sent to U.S. for higher study has to pass the NTS examination, whereas international GRE has been imposed on local PhDs, they said.
